Welcome back on Strategikos for the first post in 2018!
I've been silent until now because I've been busy in the past few weeks :-)

Some days ago I added a new section to the website under the "Extra" label: IR & Culture.
This new section will host my works dealing with the interaction between artistic expression and IR-related themes. It is a fascinating yet relatively unexplored field offering lots of points to think upon, and I would like to give my contribution to it. Analazing this link can provide illuminating insigths on both the cultural background of a given work and on the intention of its creator. In other words, it helps understanding why a certain event, issue or person has been represented in that specific way; and at the same time on how it is perceived by the public.
Virtually all the expression forms can be examined in this sense: novels, films, music, animation, videogames and others; and this is what I tried to demonstrate with the slideshow that I inserted in the page itself. At the same time, all such media can deal with a wide range of issues linked to IR: war, diplomacy, geopolitics, nation-building, and more.

So, visit the page dedicated to IR & Culture to read more about this theme and find my works on this subject!
As I mention on that page, this work was inspired by the Seminar on International Relations: Cultural Issues that I attended as part of my Master's degree at Université Catholique de Louvain. I was really fascinated by this topic and now I cannot stop myself from "analyzing" any IR-related movie or book that I watch / read :-)
As such, the first three papers I will post there are the ones I wrote for that seminar. Then, hopefully, I will add some new work...

Poster inspired by George Orwell's 1984.
It is one of the most famous examples of IR-related novel. It also originated a film and a comic, and inspired many other works.
